Driveways and groundworks in Devon.

Your driveway is the first thing people see when they arrive at your home, and a well-built one lasts for decades. Terbium Home installs driveways and handles all groundworks across Devon and Exeter, including the unsexy but critical work that goes underneath — drainage, sub-base and proper edging.

A thought

A driveway is the first impression your home gives.

It's also one of the most visible signs of how well a property has been looked after. A properly installed drive with the right sub-base lasts 25–30 years. A cheaply done one starts sinking and cracking within five. We build the first kind.

How it works

How a driveway project works

1

Site survey

We visit your property to assess access, levels, drainage requirements and the condition of the existing surface.

2

Quote & material choice

You receive a written quote with options. We'll explain the pros and cons of different surfaces honestly — what looks good vs what holds up best in Devon.

3

Excavation & sub-base

Most drive failures come from a poor sub-base. We dig out to proper depth, install MOT type 1 sub-base, and compact it thoroughly. We don't cut corners on the bit you'll never see.

4

Surface & finish

Block paving laid on screeded sand, tarmac rolled in two layers, resin troweled and cured. Plus proper edge restraints — many cheap drives fail at the edges first.

Questions

Frequently asked

How long does a typical driveway take?
A standard block-paved driveway takes 5-10 days depending on size. Resin driveways can be quicker once the base is right. We give you realistic timings upfront.
Do I need planning permission for a driveway?
If your new driveway is over 5 square metres and uses non-permeable surfacing (like standard tarmac or concrete), you may need permission. We help you understand the rules and apply if needed.
What about dropped kerbs?
For a new driveway entrance, you'll need a dropped kerb licence from Devon County Council (Section 184). We can advise on the process — only NRSWA-accredited contractors can do the actual kerb work, and we work with approved partners.
How long do block-paved driveways last?
A properly installed block-paved drive should last 25-30+ years with minimal maintenance. The sub-base is everything — done right, it lasts; done badly, it sinks.
Do you do retaining walls?
Yes — sleeper retaining walls, brick walls and gabion walls. We commonly do retaining walls as part of garden landscaping projects too.
