45+ years in construction across the South West — extensions, renovations, groundworks and large-scale builds. The depth of experience that informs everything we do.
Why we started this
Hiring a builder shouldn't feel like rolling the dice. But it often does. Most people we meet have either been let down before themselves, or know someone who has — the contractor who disappears mid-job, the quote that doubles halfway through, the finish that's already failing two years later.
We've seen all of it. Worked behind some of it, in our early careers — putting right what other people did badly. And we set Terbium Home up specifically because we wanted to be the alternative.
That sounds like marketing. We know. But it's the actual reason.
What you get with us
You'll get Tom or Mark on the phone when you call. You'll get one of us at the site visit. You'll get both of us doing most of the actual work. And if something needs putting right, you'll get the same two of us back to put it right.
Between us we cover most aspects of construction in-house — bricklaying, carpentry, joinery, plastering, tiling, plumbing coordination, electrical first fix, groundworks and finishing. Where we bring in a specialist (electricians for certification, structural engineers for calculations), it's someone we've worked with for years.
This isn't a big company structure with project managers and crews. It's smaller, slower, and we think — better.
What we believe
Cutting corners on the parts you can't see is the easiest way to make money on a job — and the easiest way to fail clients long-term. We don't.
No vague verbal estimates. Every quote is itemised in writing so you know exactly what you're paying for and why.
We live and work in Devon. Reputation matters when you're going to bump into your customers at the supermarket the next month.
Building sites are messy by nature, but they don't have to be left messy. We tidy up at the end of every day.
